I have wanted to write for a while now so I guess now is just as good a time as any. I have been motivated in the blog stratosphere by arguably the coolest girl on the planet and definitely the hottest one I know, none other than Nicole. Check her out here.
So here’s some info about me. I’m an Aries, I like long walks on the beach, I was born as a small child, and most people call me a dominator. Ok, no one ever calls me a dominator but it sure would be pretty cool if they did. I live in an amazing place called Huntington Beach , California . I have the sweetest, most beautiful daughter named Rylee who just turned five. For work, I am dominating the Gulf of Mexico working on an oil rig.
I worked as a Youth Pastor for over 8 years in some of the largest churches in Houston . I also traveled and spoke at numerous camps, churches, retreats, schools, prisons, and special events. I was as I like to say a professional Christian. I knew the lingo, knew what to say and not to say and best of all I knew how to play the game. The truth for me was the fact that I was burnt out for at least half of my ministry career. The simple fact that youth ministry was all that I thought I could do and the need to support a family kept me plugging away for years. My story is an interesting one. I was actually born half Chinese, and by half Chinese I mean, completely white. Seriously though, the journey that I have been on has taken me to some dark, lonely, scary places that I am very grateful for because I feel that these experiences have made me a better person.
I lost my mother when I was 12, had a severely alcoholic father, lived in a homeless shelter and various people’s homes through high school and got married when I was 19. Since that time I have gone from working at a church to at times feeling like an enemy of the church. My wife and I got a divorce and after being apart for over a year and a half we have fallen in love again. I am very grateful for her, her love for life and her desire to live each day to the fullest challenges and inspires me. I have moved from Texas to California to get away from the judgmental, hypocritical, anti love movement that is often times called the church. Don’t get me wrong, there are some really amazing people in the church. I have met and seen them with my own eyes. I have witnessed some of the most genuine, selfless, loving, caring people within the very walls of a place that typically caters to the needs of their committee members rather than for any person in need.
Life is a war.
This blog is about my life at war. My battles. My struggles. My Take.
